Captive Portal Issue on Android Lollipop

(Joshep) #21

Yes. The error is right above.

(Joshep) #22

Is there httpd.conf file in your apache2 directory?

(Hardeep Singh) #23

.conf is a file extension not a directory.

Edit the apache2.conf file and set ServerName to localhost:

sudo vi /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

add ServerName localhost at the bottom of the file.

Save and restart apache.

If the ServerName directive is already present, set it’s value to localhost

(Joshep) #25

i downloaded the same file you sent and got the same error

root@hidden:/etc/apache2# apache2ctl configtest
AH00526: Syntax error on line 13 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/android.conf:
Invalid command 'RewriteEngine', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration
Action 'configtest' failed.
The Apache error log may have more information.

(Hardeep Singh) #26

Enable mod_rewrtite module as the following line suggests.

sudo a2enmod rewrite

(Joshep) #27

Yes the command works but it doesn’t redirect me to the fake AP page.
and the command a2ensite android is vain, didn’t do anything new.
Can you tell me what is in your /var/www/html folder?

(Hardeep Singh) #28

Enabling the android config after restarting apache should trigger

  • Captive Portal’s Splash Page on your Android, or
  • Give you a notification to log in. Which in turn opens the Fake AP login page

Are you getting any of it?

(Joshep) #29

I enabled android config
and even reloaded service apache2.
But when i connect the fake AP through my android phone,
I don’t get any notification to log in or even when i go manuallly to the google chrome browser, i can’t get any log in page instead i get some index of /var/www/html
in which i have android folder and Rogue_AP folder.
When i copy the files (dbconnect.php,index.html,logo.png,loading.gif,etc)of Rogue_AP folder to the directory /var/www/html/
and then i get the fake log in page on my browser.
Also if i type the password and hit enter I can’t see any upgrading.html logo
and can’t get the password on mysql terminal window

And also the main problem is when i use airgeddon ,
Before using this trick some days ago i got the fake log in page on my browser
but today it showed same index of /var/www/html/ directory instead of fake AP page :frowning:

Seems like you’ve mixed up the rogue AP and the captive portal’s instructions.

I think a complete walkthrough of creating a fake AP and triggering captive portal on both Android and iOS devices would be rather better in this case.

Till I publish the walkthrough, I’d suggest you to read error logs of apache: /var/log/apache2/error.log and do some manual testing to figure out where did the things went wrong. That’s the way to learn.

and I’ll be working on the guide. If you do get the things write in the meantime, make sure to put it under this thread and mar as “SOLVED”

(Joshep) #31

Will your guide on Captive portal help me out on this case?
Yes, there are lines of error on error.log
I will try my best to solve those errors.

(Hardeep Singh) #32

All the best

(Joshep) #33

When will you gonna release the captive portal guide?

(Hardeep Singh) #34

estimated 2 days from now

(Joshep) #35

Everything’s fine ,
I just wanna redirect my victim to the fake AP log in page automatically.
Also your guide on evil twin didn’t work on mine pc.
Hope your guide will work including all the android, ios and pc.

well what will happen if i copied android.conf file on fluxion or airgeddon?

(Hardeep Singh) #36

It should work as we expect our original android.conf to be.

Test it update if it didn’t.

(Joshep) #37

I pasted android.config inside the folder airgeddon and tested it.
But it didn’t work.

(Hardeep Singh) #38

I doubt the problem is in the configuration.
Not sure if it’s the tutorial’s configuration or some missteps.

I would have to test the tutorial to be clear. I suggest you to do the same. #troubleshooting

(Joshep) #39

Did you alone create this rootsh3ll website and all the guides by yourself alone?
or do you have a team or partners?

(Hardeep Singh) #40

Guess I am jack of all trades

(Joshep) #41

I really appreciate you and your effort!
Hope you will be a renowned ethical hacker someday.
